Volume 1

Who Speaks?

Too Near by Far - Reflections:
Looking Ahead at the Past,
Forays into Eight Decades, 1933-2003

Too Near by Far is unique in that it attempts to portray the transformation
that transpired over seven decades of the twentieth century—
as seen through the eyes of an author/artist/teacher.
It traces the migration from a remote, rural backwoods beginning,
in a one-room-schoolhouse (in the Upper Ottawa Valley of Québec in the nineteen-thirties),
through to the struggles of a beginning career teaching in a two-room-schoolhouse.
There followed ten years of teaching a wide range of subjects in rural and urban schools
before encountering the mainstream world of post-secondary academic rigor
(at Sir George Williams/ Concordia University in Montréal).

(2004, 262 pages, 160 illustrations, 8 x 11, index, perfect binding)

ISBN 1-4120-1940-0, Arts Press in cooperation with Trafford Press, Available from the author at: <iiae2@hotmail.com> or <shorner@uvic.ca> ($20.00).
