To begin with we would like to extend our thanks to all the parents and
students who made the 'Harry Potter' field trip a success. More than 45
people showed up for the viewing. |
 |
The students made a great effort to help the less fortunate families of
Victoria. A total of six (6) boxes of food, used clothing items, toys and
over $110 in money was collected and delivered to the local food
bank.
Some of the students came along to present the items to the food
bank. Thank you to all in our Gurdwara community for this successful
food bank drive. |

Many people from our Gurdwara participated in the
Panjabi School ski trip
on December 29, 2001. A big thank you goes out to the teachers and
parents who volunteered their time and effort to make this a great
success. A total of 13 people skied and snowboarded at Mount Seymour
in North Vancouver. |

Vaisakhi 2002
was celebrated on April 21, at our Gurdwara. With the
help of many people, beautiful posters and decorations were put up in the
Gurdwara to celebrate the 302nd birthday of the Khalsa. Due to the
incredible generosity of many parents, a "bouncy castle" was
rented for the day for the enjoyment of all children and some
parents. Food was also aplenty as the congregation enjoyed a birthday
cake, ice-cream and smosas just to name a few. Once again, many thanks
go out to all people who made this a a very special celebration, especially
for the Panjabi School students. Please click Vaisakhi

Field trip to
Witty's Lagoon
Provincial Park. This field trip was planned and arranged within a few
hours. Thanks to the school staff who worked hard to set it up.
It was another great turnout with over 25 students and 11 adults
attending. We also lucked out with the weather as it was the hottest
day of the year reaching over 25C in many part of Victoria. Many
thanks to the parents who contributed yummy food for the occasion.
Hermit crabs seemed to be the more popular part of the field trip, or
was it soaking some of the teachers. Either way, it was a great
afternoon of fun. Please see out photo album for many pictures. |

It
was a great honour for our school to welcome Bhia
Deya Singh (from Australia) to our Gurdwara. He came
for the sole purpose of performing Kirtan for the Panjabi School
students. We thank Bhai Deya Singh for taking time out of his busy
schedule. |

The
school year ended with a Sports Day
and the presentation of awards
to deserving students. |
 |
During
the summer holidays, students and parents were invited to participate in an
overnight camp at Goldstream Group Site
Campgrounds. This was a great way to cap the year
and to bring the students together once again before the start of another
school year. We had expected that between 40 - 50 people would attend
the daytime picnic , but were pleasantly surprised when close to 80 people
turned out. Of those 80, 30 students and parents camped
overnight. It was great experience for all as many participants had
never gone camping. This promises to be an annual event. |
2002-2003 Events:
 | During this school year, our Gurdwara went through some major
renovations. Many students have been asking when the school year would
start again. It is with great disappointment that we decided not to
start up again until September 2003. The "before" pictures
of the Gurdwara were displayed on this site for a short period of time. |
 | A number of families in our Gurdwara community enjoyed our 2nd
"Annual Sikh Spirit Ski / Snowboarding Trip" to Mount Washington
earlier this year. A total of 16 adults and children attended and by
all accounts, everybody had a great time. A big thank you to those who
drove the participants to the mountain. |
 | The next big Panjabi School function we are having is the "Summer
2003 Gurmat Youth Camp". Khalsa School Surrey has graciously
agreed to include Victoria as one of the many stop-over for their Youth
Camp. The camp will be held at out Gurdwara from July 6 - 12,
2003. All youth over 6 years of age are encouraged to attend in order
to develop in themselves the knowledge and spirituality of the Sikh
Faith. Many fun activities are also planned for the Youth during this
period. The registration forms can be picked up from the Gurdwara or
you may contact us via the email link below. |
