Icelandica - A Treasury of Things Icelandic
The pictures linked to this page were all taken during my trips to Iceland in 2000,
2005 and 2006. As such, they offer a visual perspective of Iceland which is obviously
deeply personal in that each exposure represents some site or event that is
meaningful to me, for one reason or another.

All pictures are Copyright 2005 by Stefan M. Jonasson or Charles O. Jonasson, unless
otherwise indicated. You are free to enjoy these pictures and even save them for
private viewing, if you are so inclined. However, you may not sell them, exhibit
them, modify them, or publish them in any form (printed or electronic) without prior
permission.

Austurland (Eastern Iceland) - Iceland's face to continental Europe, eastern
Iceland is home to long fjords, broad valleys, charming villages and Europe's largest
glacier - Vatnajökull.

Norðurland (Northern Iceland) - Braving the winds and waves of the Arctic Ocean,
northern Iceland is rich in history, folklore and scenery.

Snæfellsnes - Jules Verne began his novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth at
Snæfellsjökull, the glacier that dominates the Snæfellsnes peninsula, while Nobel
laureate Halldór Laxness set his novel
Under the Glacier in its shadow.

Reykjavík - The northernmost national capital in the world, Reykjavík is a modern
city offering the cultural and commercial advantages of a large metropolitan centre
and the friendliness of a small town.

Suðurland (Southern Iceland) - Rich agricultural lands dominate southern Iceland
but the region is also home to spectacular waterfalls, rivers and historic sites.

Vestfirðir (The Westfjords) - The Westfjords are breathtakingly beautiful, reaching
out like a "claw" towards Greenland.
