I Shall Not Pass This Way Again

Through this toilsome world, alas,
Once and only once I pass,
If a good deed I may do,
If a kindness I may show
To a suffering fellow man,
Let me do it while I can,
No delay for it is plain
I shall not pass this way again.
Author Unknown

The above poem was adapted from a quote from Stephen Grellet (born Etienne de Grellet du Mabillier) (1773-1855), a Quaker Missionary from France to the United States. The original quote is:
"I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again."
