Tom WHATLEY Jr. N1FM/n1sob is nothing if not a fat BULLY…. 

For cursory/superficial but nevertheless telling proof of that, you need look no further [ß off his QRZ Bio page circa 2005] or listen to more than this [ß his infamous 19 min. BULLYING rant on 14.273 MHz in 2006].

 

But in fairness, Tom comes by his BULLYING ways ~honestly….

 

He is the ‘Black-Irish’ son of a “professional” BULLY—his father was a Non-Com in the US Army—who as a Drill Sgt. molded “Jr.” in his own BULLY image and otherwise abused him from a VERY young age. 

The family moved around a lot—even out of the country, including a stint on the desolate Canadian prairie—where Tom had difficulty making lasting/true/deep friendships and compensated by becoming, wait for it… a school-yard BULLY!

His parents divorced….

After high school, Tom apprenticed to a one-eyed German butcher, where—because of his close association w/ his severe task-Master and daily exposure to the “bloody trade”—he was not only further de-sensitized to suffering/corporal ~violence, but also acquired a “right wing”/ethnic hatred/racist perspective….

Subsequently, Tom self-selected/became a COP at the Delray Beach PD at a time when, by his own admission, “brawn” was valued much more than brains!  There, again by his own admission, he was soon accurately cast as/played/ultimately was the “Bad COP”—and surprise, surprise… eventually became a disciplinary problem….

 

As part of “professional development” Tom attended a part-time/evening programme—on the ‘public teat’—at what originally was Barry Women’s College…. There, he reportedly managed to obtain a Diploma in Legal Studies—some say w/ a major in doughnut-eating/basket-weaving—because of his still demonstrably semi-illiterate ways…. Be that as it may, his Diploma is not to be confused w/ a Law Degree—despite Tom and his latter-day severe task-Master, ‘Psycho’ Brian CROW K3VR’s puffery/occasional FRAUDulent assertions to that very effect….

 

In the latter stages of his Delray Beach PD career Tom worked in the FRAUD squad—whose corrupt head ended up in jail for 5 years, wait for it… for FRAUD, money-laundering, conspiracy and corruption….

Tom also worked in money-laundering and telephone/computer forensics….

Suffice it to say that Tom learned much about FRAUD, devious money schemes, conspiracies and how to conduct telephone/computer harassment w/ impunity—and as the below and other evidence clearly shows—consorts w/ criminals and engages in quasi-criminal activities to this very day….

 

But, the high water mark of Tom’s COP career surely was the visit an FBI team paid him in 2007—at his Delray Beach PD COP shop—to interrogate him about the white powder marked “ANTHRAX” threat mailed to me from nearby Ft. Lauderdale, FL….

Tom took early retired from ‘Lew EnfArcement’ shortly thereafter….

On the HAMereekan side of things, Tom has been licenced for >14 years, but for some reason still exhibits VERY childish & CB-esque ways/mannerisms on-air….

 

In early 2005 shortly after he made an infamous name for himself attacking various and sundry—including entire Nets on 75m—Tom for some reason chose/paid good $$$ for the Vanity call-sign N1SOB….

Now there’s TRUTH in advertising!!!

 

In late 2005 Tom purchased an IC-7800 Xceiver costing >$10,000 a bigger than legal-limit amplifier and fortunately a 10-element LP dummy load for an antenna, usually stuck “over the Pole”, HI.  Then, after months of fanfare, ‘Psycho’ Brian K3VR and Fat Mikee GUERNSEY ND8V [now KZ8O] imported Tom to 20m in order to “do me” ~14.273 MHz…. This was partially because Brian & Gang perceived my occasionally operating ~14.273 MHz as being too close to “their” 14.275 MHz where they were criminally/FRAUDulently attacking and trying to knock Glenn BAXTER K1MAN off-air…. But, because K1MAN had by the end of 2005 largely left the airwaves, this focus/attack on me was mainly “payback” for my having written The Life of Riley in 2003 which indirectly ~supported Glenn K1MAN/pilloried Riley ‘Rot’ HOLLINGSWORTH(less) K4ZDH then SCARE at the FCC and thus threatened their perverse cosy relationship w/ him….

 

To make a long story short, things did not quite work out as planned for ‘Psycho’ Brian and his doughnut-eating side-kick Tom and the rest, as they say, is history….

 

In 2009 Tom took a year-long sabbatical from attacking me/others on amateur radio/the WWW to try his hand in local politics/in a run for the PB County School Board…. But, despite spending >$35,000 and engaging in a VERY acrimonious campaign managed on-line/Facebook by his Psycho Brian, he only came in 3^rd!

 

Most recently, Tom got his nuts in a vice, again, being accused of passing CONFIDENTIAL School Board database info. of teacher names/e-mails to Nina WHATLEY, his “Real Estate Bitch” wife…. 

It was a near-run-thing, but unfortunately Tom ‘ducked the bullet’—and then decided to become licenced as a “referral” realtor, working for his wife….

Exactly.  As I tried to point out on the MAN/VE7 thread, the group here that believes they are FCC cops should be very careful what they wish for.  None of them are without sin.
The FCC has a job to do and they will do it their way.  Some of the self appointed FCC cops have no credibility left.  And that wasn't done to them by their "enemies on the air", but by ordinary amateurs that are keeping those cards and letters coming to the real FCC cop.

• OK, enough is enough.  That was a long session that did not help anyone, and in reality was provoked by one lone individual [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] who explicitly entered the ongoing QSO; the 7 minute clip on YouTube that was recorded towards the end of the session does not show that.  It also doesn't show that this has been an ongoing issue, longer than the one session being talked about on this thread, with tactics displayed that have not necessarily been confined to 75M either.  How convenient for that one individual [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob].  Now that individual [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] was back in there once again tonight, aggravating the situation even further. What I have a hard time understanding is that for someone [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] who says he [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] takes exception to the perceived brashness of some of the folks on 75M as he [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] has indicated within this current thread, why is he [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] back in there again provoking an argument?  That doesn’t sound like he [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] takes exception to such things, it sounds like he [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] relishes in them.  Jumping back into their QSO, knowing fully well what will happen with such a provoking agenda, is neither the wisest nor the most considerate thing to do, particularly since there are many people in the QSO that are not part of the original issue and who should not be subjected to such tactics.

• I find it interesting that the person [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] claiming to have recorded a disagreement on 3910 last evening (Sat. 11/24/07) has trouble reading the frequency he was listening on. Was it just a simple mistake or were there other disagreements on the band. Perhaps his [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] credibility is questionable.
  I am afraid that some…posting to this forum did not get the whole picture. The recorder listed above [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] has spent several hours trying to disrupt a group on 3930 who asked him [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] to leave because he [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] was only there to disrupt the group.
  No one, that I am aware of, that meets on 3930 regularly, claims to own the frequency. We do not exclude any station that is readable at all stations in the QSO….
  Perhaps the "Recorder" [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] did hear a VE trying to break a 3930 QSO, but I can assure all that if said station (VE) was readable anywhere between here and west Texas he would have been acknowledged….
  As for the "recorders''' [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] problem, he [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] was asked to leave the frequency not because we are an exclusive group but because he [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] was only trying to disrupt our QSO. No one on frequency wanted to talk to him [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] because he [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] simply acted like an a[ss].
  As for surrendering our license, WOW.
  The average ticket age on 3930 at night is over 20 years, mine is 42 years old and it can only be taken by the proper authorities.
  If you think 3930 participants are wrong, please ask the "recorder" [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] why he [ß Tom WHATLEY N1FM/n1sob] does not go to another frequency and just forget about us.
  Who is right?

The reason for Tommy’s threatening e-mail to a 3930 regular had to do with said 3930 kHz regular telling Tommy he didn’t like his operating practices on 20meters and he didn’t want him to start those shenanigans on 3930 kHz. These are the facts about why this malicious interference is going on. You guys are witnessing peer pressure in action. Tommy will of course try to change the story around to fit his needs but this is exactly what STARTED this episode of malicious interference 101 from Tommy. Tommy at that time of the original contact was simply told in a kind and courteous manner (I heard it first hand) if he was there to start trouble he wasn't welcomed on 3930 kHz. Actually, if I had any say in it, and I clearly don't, I'd prefer no enforcement over either bad or inconsistent enforcement. Hence the subject of this thread. We're merely trying to figure out what the rules of the game are.
  
  I'm sure that after we figure out what is going on in US Amateur radio enforcement, we can expand the discussion to other countries. However, at this point, we are having enough trouble figuring out US enforcement. Sometimes you have to bound the problem before you can solve it.
  
  That's why your MF-bombing case is so important. Were you contacted by Riley concerning the incident? What paragraphs in Part 97 did Riley say you violated? And what was the punishment for each infraction?
  
  In addition, you might help me out with this question. If you were allowed to hurl the MF-bomb multiple times without any punishment, which your post seems to imply, why on earth do you believe that another amateur [ß In another country at that!] should be punished for the same behavior? To me, that seems to violate the most basic rules of fairness.

Two of the amateurs were quite proud that they had never received any letters in many, many years of operation. The third amateur was quite proud of the fact that he had received 10 letters. As a matter of fact, a slight argument occurred when one of the other amateurs said that he was certain it was only 9, instead of the 10.
  
  Now I do understand how people can be proud of the fact that they have a $9,000 Rolex, or a $12,000 Icom, or an $83,000 Mercedes Benz, but I don't quite understand how one can be proud of getting 10 official letters from FCC enforcement.

I spent a few thousand bucks over the years on radio and equipment, to be on the air. I got tired fo dead air on the VHF/UHF side so I upgraded to general. Now I wonder if that dead air is better. The last couple of days I have heard more arguing and cussing on the HF bands than I ever have. Just about 20 minutes ago I had my kids in the room wanting to give them a taste of what amature radio was about, let them listen to what goes on and how things are. I picked a portion of the band where I have yet to hear any aruging or anything, and would you have it, I got to hear N1FM and another gentleman on 14313 having a spat, N1FM was calling the other station a Dumb@$$ and and just went down hill, I had to remove the kids from the room and shut the radio down. So with all this stuff going on anymore on the bands I have to wonder why I took the time to learn the material and take the test and spend thousands of $$$ on equipment when I could very well hear the same stuff on a $25 CB radio and not have to learn a thing.

We helped him dial up someone calling "CQ Field Day" and coached him on what to say for a successful field day exchange. What happened next was one of the most horrifying experiences I've ever had in ham radio -- I witnessed a new ham being mocked and verbally abused on the air. The ham we made contact with [KZ8O/nd8v] went out of his way to be rude, condescending, and downright abusive in his over-the-air communication with someone who identified himself as being not only new to ham radio, but on his first contact. He then berated him for being in the "General Class band" without proper authorization, and we had to step in and inform this clown that a control operator with Extra Class privileges was sitting next to him.   WX4QN claims that he is the responsible party. 
  
  That means that he engaged the new ham, harassed him, and identified in Morse code, as KZ80. 
  
  Either the witnesses are in error, or WX4QN identified fraudulently, which is a violation of the fcc regulations 
  governing ham radio. 
  
  My theory is that WX4QN is lying to us, and did not engage the ham who was harassed. 
  
  If WX4QN is lying to us, there are no consequences for his actions, since we have no real enforcement power as his peers. 
  I am going to have serious issues with this gentleman's credibility in the future, if he is lying to us. 
  
  If, on the other hand, he is not lying, and the observers are correct, he knowingly identified fraudulently using the call sign of another amateur. 
  
  My opinion is that WX4QN lied to us, and did not engage the amateur that was harassed, and did not commit any violation of fcc regulations. 
  
  If he maintains his story, that he engaged the ham in question, and identified fraudulently as KZ80, I will ask him to self report himself to Laura Smith, for disciplinary action. 
  
  If he didn't, then no harm done. 
  
  KZ80's actions, in this case, while reprehensible to the majority of the ham community, did not violate any FCC regulations. 
  I am concerned about KZ80's mental health, and I would like someone to check up on him, if possible. 
  As a member of the ham community, I am here to help, and I am willing to help him out if he needs a hand. 
  I am certainly willing to write him a check for a few hundred dollars if he has come onto hard times, and I would encourage the rest of you to do so as well. 
  We need to show everybody that we are a self-policing community that cares.

• I strongly agree with the previous posts that it is very important to call out bad actors.  I've seen first hand what happens in law enforcement (blue code of silence) or the medical profession ("professional courtesy") when bad actors are not disciplined and the situation ultimately winds up with someone getting hurt, killed, or a large lawsuit.  HAM radio is not as serious, but the new HAM probably suffered some emotional distress as a result.

• I feel obligated, now that the forum on EHAM is closed to the thread about the ham who humiliated a young ham on field day, to advise that not just 30 min ago, 2230 EDT, I heard the CQ from K2L. He was loud, clear and with a very narrow and crisp audio. I called him on 14.335, exchanged reports and answered the question with GOD BLESS AMERICA and closed with 73 and thanks for your service. The next ham to come on without benefit of call was the same ham, well known and named in the EHAM forum on Field Day disruption, Fat Mikee. His voice is unmistakable as is his vocabulary. He rudely informed K2L that his audio was distorted and splattering, typical of his MO for QRM. I will admit I was bothered by his behavior and keyed up, saying to K2L that this was no so, his audio was good and that this was the notorious fat one from Michigan. Mikee began a tirade of insults towards me. Reminding me and anyone who would listen that I had been illegally using a foreign call sign, which I used with permission in Spain 25 yrs ago and have since made peace with Riley and received my license, KJ4DVD. None the less, the problem persists. A station barges in on a legitimate special event station, no ID and complaining about an audio problem that does not exist. I think it is time for some kind of remedy for this situation. This is the first time I have ever posted any thing especially of this nature, but I would like to get some opinions on this issue. Do we just put up with a guy who seems to have lost the spirit of the radio amateur, or do we find a way to put a stop to this. I would be especially interested in the operator with the British sounding accent operating as K2L out of South Carolina, who was the object of Mikees audio complaint. DE KJ4DVD
