We elected to not go via  Dawson Creek, but turned north instead at Chetwynd to stay at Moberly Lake Park. From there we went to Fort St John and got onto the Alaska Highway there. This was a highly enjoyable drive at good speed through thunderstorms. The most enjoyable part of it for me was the drive between Fort St John and Fort Nelson through open conifer country...not spectacular, but I felt free!
