2003 was a banner year for the band, as they were the lead band for the 2003 Ford World Curling Championships -
April 4th - 13th, 2003 at the Winnipeg Arena. This event over a year in the planing went off in great style, with
Pipe Major Crystal Hay leading a solo at the Opening Ceremonies, followed by 6 other bands. The Belle's individually
piped for the beginning of each curling draw all week long, and at the Closing Ceremonies, the Winnipeg Heather
Belle Ladies' Pipe Band was once again the lead band. aided by the Winnipeg Boy Scout Youth Band.
While this event was a highlight for the band, they have played at other major curling events, such as the Nokia
Brier, The Scott Tournament of Hearts (two different years) and the Labatt Brier. The Heather Belles are proud
to help bring the traditions of Scottish bagpipe music to the roaring game of curling.
