Damone
guest starred in "The
Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew
Mysteries" in
episode: "Mystery
on the Avalanche Express"
(episode # 2.19) 26
February 1978
He was
born Vito Rocco Farinola on June
12, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY. He
began voice lessons, after
he heard Frank Sinatra on the
radio and became totally
mesmerized. There was
something about the way Sinatra
would interpret a melody or a
lyric, and this caught young
Vic's imagination. A simple
inflection, an on-purpose
momentary lag, the
unmistakable phrasing that was
Sinatra's forte.
The young Damone knew
music was the way for him,
the question was how, and what
better way to get close to
show business than to work
as an usher at the Paramount
theater in New York? So
that's where he started
working at the age of 14, in
order to get close to that which
he loved - music and the
people who made it come to life.
How was he to know that a scant
5 years after starting his
usher duties that he would end up
being a 19 year-old
recording artist with
Mercury Records?
He could only guess at and dream
about the astounding success
he would achieve throughout his
career, the many places he would
get to travel to, the
countless interesting people he
would get to meet. He just knew
that music was going to be a
part of his life.
He hosted his own TV show as well
as hosting The Dean Martin
Summer Show Starring Your Host
Vic Damone.
He was also a nighclub singer on
a season of The Morey
Amsterdam Show.

Danova guest starred in "The
Hardy Boys Mysteries"
playing "Moustapha" in
episode: "The Mystery Of
King Tut's Tomb"
(episode # 2.3) 9/25/1977
Cesare Danova was born in Rome
Italy. Perhaps he portrayed
aristocrats so well because he
was actually descended from a
German count on his fathers
side.
Cesares mother was a
descendant of the famed medieval
artist who was mentioned in the
poem Filippo Lippi by Robert
Browning.
Cesare was studying to be a
surgeon at the University of Rome
when Dino De Laurentis approached
him to test for the lead in his
upcoming film La
figlia del capitano (1947) at the time as he won
the part and for three years did
both acting and medical school.
He finally decided to go with
acting. He thought that being an
actor would disgrace his family
name of Deitinger so he changed
his name to Danova. It was a word
he found in an ancient Italian
dictionary and meant
medieval monk
Cesares successful career
could not have been considered a
disgrace.
His film and television
appearances span from 1947 till
shortly before his death in 1992.
He has been called a gentleman by
those who knew him and he was
truly an actor extrodinaire. His
motion pictures included Don
Giovanni (1955/I), The
Man Who Understood Women
(1959), Tarzan, the Ape Man (1959),
Cleopatra (1963), Viva
Las Vegas (1964), Chamber
of Horrors (1966), Mean
Streets (1973), Death
Cruise (1974), Tentacles
(1977), Animal House (1978)
and Invisible Strangler (1984).
His television guest appearances
includes The Rifleman,
Adventures in Paradise, Zane Grey
Theater, Arrest and Trial,
Bonanza, Daniel Boone, Honey
West, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,

to Hart, The Love Boat, The Fall
Guy, Matt Houston, Hotel,
Airwolf, Magnum, P.I., Murder,

He is sadly
missed. He played an actor in
the series Garrison's Gorillas
and Silvo Conti in a season of
the daytime soap Ryan's Hope. |

a heart attack before the pilot
could be spun off into a series.
Thayer David was at one time
married to actress Valerie
French. He also played Matthew
