Hot on the heels of the Zappa outing, Fudge and many other surf guitar bands re-invent some of the most popular songs of the 60s, all the way to late 90s.
As the liner notes explain: "Back the 60s, popular instrumental groups such as the Ventures used to record cover versions of pop hits of the day. These days the pop charts are full of records that badly need to be re-recorded. We should try and catch up before it gets any worse."
Taking a cue from that, Fudge covered Aqua's "Barbie Girl" - a #1 song from 1997 that most people really hate. In his version, it is transformed from a dancey, bouncy, fluffy pop song into a romantic, dreamy ballad, as Ken and Barbie walk hand in hand on the beach.
