FUDGE
An all covers project,
all performed and produced by one-man band Fudge. Every song ranges
in style and most of the time, sounding completely different from the original.
Fudge has appeared on tributes to The Talking Heads, Frank Zappa, Bay City Rollers,
Tanya Donelly, Juliana Hatfield, Kay Hanley, Ben Folds and more.
LEE ROSEVERE pronounced Rose-veer
Lee likes to experiment with many styles, including soundtracks and avant-garde projects. His music has been used in websites, radio programs, podcasts, short films, malls and people in Montreal have danced to it (apparently there is video!). He works professionally in radio, and has won a New York Award in sound design. Lee has released a series of Creative Commons albums (free downloads) and contributed tracks to Comfort Stand, WM Recordings Oddio Overplay, proc-records, 20 kbps, Oceanbase and enough records.
PLUMTREE
Halifax's Plumtree started writing and recording music together when the girls were just out of high school and became one of Canadian's best bands. They broke up in the year 2000, but have recently enjoyed renewed interested after their song "Scott Pilgrim" became the inspiration for a comic book, which got turned into a bigtime Hollywood movie. Plumtree have given Happy Puppy permission to release their first indie-EP Flutterboard for free download, originally released in 1994. For a much further in-depth bio and lots of other goodies, visit the Plumtree site.
JASON KANESHIRO
Jason is a true man of multi-media; he created the Webomatica site many years ago, before the word "blog" became popular. A talented graphic-designer from California, Jason writes and records his own pop songs and quietly releases them on the internet, rewarding those who discover them. Jason compiled his favorite tracks from a decade of releases exclusively for Happy Puppy called GHJK.
JENNY DALTON
From Minneapolis, a talented singer/songwriter in the tradition of influences like Tori Amos and Kate Bush, Jenny has released a number of albums (and a book) with her own Glossy Shoebox Productions. Visit her website for lots of additional music, writings, tarot card readings, and she has her own press section.
c4/Graffiti Mechanism
c4, aka Adam Crammond has been releasing music on various netlabels for a while now, has over 400 releases on his own netlabel proc-records within a few years. Based out of Toledo, c4 first became aware of Happy Puppy after searching for music made by the COCO2. After that, a friendship struck up as Lee released a techno EP "Depending On Technology" on c4's label, and we released his "random detonations" and since then the catalog has expanded. Adam recently retired the moniker c4, but is still extremely busy operating under the name Graffiti Mechanism.
MONOPOLE
Monopole (aka Richard Sudney) is a self-taught musician and visual artist from Detroit, where he huddles himself away in his basement, surrounded by old analog electronics and antique vaccuum tube communications equipment. His music is a combination of manipulated field recordings and micro samples by ways of using home build audio processors and freely accessible computer programs. Monopole's influences range from 1920's and 30's big band jazz to orchestral music, although he is no stranger to electronics music styles such as minimal, ambient and Detroit techno.
SCRAP HEAP
Scrap Heap is Scott Feeney, sound crafter and wannabe musician from Washington, DC. Whether creating cheesy synthpop, channeling explosive feedback or improvising on makeshift instruments, Scott brings a unique approach to composition and recording. A sincere belief that music should be fun to listen to pervades his work, no matter how harsh or experimental it may get.
LOGAN WHITEHURST and the jr. science club
We're big fans of Logan's music even since hearing it on mp3.com. Logan's music was always clever, fun and educational, and it was devastating for many of his fans when he died at an early age from cancer. In honour of his musical memory, Happy Puppy was given permission from his family to collect some of our favorite tracks into a compilation called "An Introduction to" to introduce more people to his music and keep his memory alive.
SCREAMIN' WHITE JEFFERSON
Screamin' was a pivotal member of the early 50s Canadian blues scene. He only recorded one album 'officially', and the rest of his life is shadowed with mystery, rumour and jugs of haystack wine. Happy Puppy is proud to have his work in our catalog and you haven't heard anything until you've heard "Gin Pig".
DJ PATERNOSTER
Born in Tel Aviv, and lived all around the world, DJ learned how to make his own music in less than 6 months and released his debut album "White Flag" on Happy Puppy in August 2007.
CHESTER CHICKEN
With one album under
his wing, Chester has hit the big time. He's received national airplay
(really!) and we heard a "Behind the Music" was in the works, but don't
quote us on that.
