UBC
Map Library
The
Map Library houses the University's primary map collection, which is one
of the largest in Canada. The Map Library's mandate is to provide a
well-rounded collection of maps, atlases and related geographical
materials in support of teaching and research activity at UBC. It
is also available to the general public.
US
Library of Congress Panoramic Maps of Canada
The
panoramic map was a popular cartographic form used to depict U.S. and
Canadian cities and towns during the late nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries. Known also as bird's-eye views, perspective maps, and aero
views, panoramic maps are non-photographic representations of cities
portrayed as if viewed from above at an oblique angle. Although not
generally drawn to scale, they show street patterns, individual
buildings, and major landscape features in perspective.
Vancouver
Archives Historic Photograph Collection
The
Archives has an extensive photograph collection depicting subjects
relating to Vancouver's history, government and culture from the 1860s
to the 1980s. 60,000 are individually indexed and in reference binders
in the Archives' Reference Room.
