I am an instructor at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology SAIT in the department of Business and Tourism where I teach kitchen management and sanitation and safety to full time cooking students, cook apprentices, bakers, and retail meat cutters. Before kitchen management, I taught Cold Foods, Meat Cookery and Breakfast. I use WebCT to manage test banks and module information for all of my courses. More about WebCT is available at WebCT. Prior to SAIT, I spent 20 years in the restaurant industry as a cook, sous chef and chef. More detailed information is available.
I have my Alberta Journeyman's
ticket and Canadian Red Seal. In 1986, I attained the Certified Chef de
Cuisine qualification from the Canadian Culinary Institute and in 1999 my Bachelor
of Education from the University of Alberta.
Music is important in my family's life as well. I have played clarinet with the Rocky Mountain Concert Band and currently play tenor sax in the WestWinds Silver Jazz Band.
My daughter Janel loves Sport Medicine for which she has been going to the University of Calgary taking kinestheology. Kendra has played clarinet, bass guitar and piano and acoustic guitar. She's finished high school and is taking Film & Video Production at SAIT.
We have two dogs and two cats, all rescued. Jessie is a lab cross and Mowglie is a pure-bred American Eskimo. Toby is a female tabby cat, apparently rare. Felix is a male something or other - what do I know from cats? Anyway, it makes for a pretty busy household, critter wise.
