Diminished Chords

Diminished chords are an odd sounding chord because the distance of the notes are tritones apart , meaning that each note in the chord is 3 half steps apart. Once again using the method of Chord Constrution by stacking thirds we understand that the Major chords are made from the 1,3,5 tones of the Major Scale in the same key. IE. if we wanted to find a Cmaj chord we would have to figure out the C Major scale. We know that it is C,D,E,F,G,A,B,C. So we now know that a Cmaj chord has the notes C,E,G. To make that a Diminished chord we have to lower the 3rd and 5th tones. So a C Dim chord would be C,Eb,Gb. Try to figure out all the diminshed chords without looking below.
