Tips & Tricks

- Use black painted cans of water on the sunny side of the greenhouse to absorb heat during the cold, sunny days of winter and release it at night.
- Put a ½ barrel in the greenhouse to provide humidity and use as a watering source for the orchids. You can also put in some goldfish to keep the mosquitos down and grow some tropical water lilies in the ½ barrel. However, if there are any chances of raccoons, skunks or possoms finding your ½ barrel then don't put fish in them! They will tear your ponds apart and could do considerable damage to the orchids.
- For blowers that are quiet and move a great deal of air use the hot air furnace blowers. They are quiet, as fans go, and move a tremendous amount of air. You can get them at junk dealers or ask the furnace replacement companies.
