Windsurfing Sites In The Okanagan
Wind in the Okanagan Valley is somewhat unpredictable, but for the most part, we do have many wicked days. Our season is from the end of March to November. You can get away with a good steamer wetsuit for the early and late months of the season, or a drysuit may be a bit more comfortable. It is possible to windsurf all year around on dry winter years.
To sum up
the wind in the Okanagan, March to June is usually the best months for wind.
July and August brings in very hot temperatures which means when the high
pressure systems are in the valley, we usually have to turn to light north winds
at this time. The odd south or southeast
wind may kick up during this time too.
September to November brings another round of great windsurfing.
Most of our sites have grass rigging, public washrooms, parking and sandy
beaches.
Below is a
description and a geographic area with maps (where available) to guide you to
the most popular sites in the valley starting from Vernon south to Penticton.
