Gerry was born and lives in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. His ancestors came to Victoria by ship from England in 1853 and he is the fifth generation.

Always interested in drawing from an early age, he was introduced to oil painting by his university room-mate. This interest intensified through William Alexander’s oil painting method shown on PBS television, and carried on by Bob Ross.

Switching to acrylics in the late 1990’s, Gerry started taking art lessons from various Victoria  artists. After retiring in 2000 from a career in Information Technology, Gerry started his career in watercolour with lessons from local artist Jim Wispinski.

The President of Victoria’s Studio 30 Art Club, he now enjoys working in watercolour, acrylic, pen and ink, and colour pencil.
