Classic comedians Laurel and Hardy had a great fondness for Charlie ,according to his daughter Diana. Among the photos available for viewing on her new website dedicated to her father are a number of personalized shots from the famous funnymen. Gemora appeared with the pair on two occasions; first, in 1932's THE CHIMP, a short that prominently features Charles and his suit, and also a subsequent feature, 1938's SWISS MISS. THE CHIMP opens with the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy receiving a mischievous ape in lieu of payment when a Circus they work for goes belly up. Saddled with the clever gorilla, the pair has to smuggle him into their boarding house and keep his presence there a secret.

The diminutive Filipino had an obvious mastery of comic timing and cleverly used subtle body language to great effect in a number of comedies. Throughout his career, Charles Gemora appeared alongside the industries funniest men, the Marx brothers, Bob Hope, Abbott and Costello and many others. Writing about physical comedy is always insufficient - there is no substitute for watching it yourself!
