Simian Cinematheque : Bear Shooters

Charles Gemora distinguished himself as the perfect 'animal' foil to the comedy talents of a multitude of top notch entertainers including the youthful assortment of players that made up Hal Roach's OUR GANG. This short gave Charles ample opportunity to demonstrate his natural ability for both broad, very physical moments and subtle, articulated gestures. The big reveal at the end initially had me wondering if it was Charlie in the flesh early in my research but I soon realized it was, in fact, another actor. BEAR SHOOTERS is a wonderful example of an early suit in action and has a great gorilla chase sequence!
