Konga continued.....

Konga
repeatedly proved himself a champion of freedom as he repelled invaders from outer space,
ousted communists and
fascist dictators, and (naturally) scrapped with oversized monsters like
himself. His actions were never those of a wild beast; he did not kill for pleasure or battle without mercy. During a tussle with some fighter planes, the hairy giant paused to catch a pilot whose parachute failed to open, though the man had only moments before, tried his best to murder the ape.

Occasionally, Konga even tried to assist men in an attempt to gain their trust. Spotting some Chinese workers constructing a dam, the ape used his great strength and massive paws to create an earthworks in a short time. Waiting for some sign of appreciation, Konga is instead attacked by the Communists, who are sure he is under the control of capitalist handlers.
| Konga also exhibited a "crude cunning' and an instinct to understand the gravity of the situations in which he was enmeshed. Despite the fact that the
monstrous ape was practically indestructible, possessing an immunity to the strongest poisons and the ability to shrug of nuclear attacks as a minor irritation, his greatest weakness was his
emotional vulnerability. He desperately wanted to understand man and return to the bliss he had known as Sandra's favourite little chimp. Spying upon a couple kissing; "Konga had observed their great joy, their love for one another...and he felt a fierce yearning to share it with them!" Needless to say, they did not reciprocate. Konga could recall the days when he was smaller and he had been loved and loved in return. Although Sandra had promised to always love him, the gap in height and size was too much. |
