Konga

The great and mighty Konga began his troublesome life as a gentle, lovable monkey in the care of Bob and Sandra. Carrying on the research of the deceased Dr. Decker (creator of a serum that produced the first Konga, who appeared and was killed in the premiere issue of the series), the couple cared for little Konga like he was their own child. The bond between Sandra and Konga was strong (enough to bother Bob somewhat, who found Konga to be jealous of his intimacy with the blonde beauty), but when the serum transformed the friendly chimp into a gargantuan ape, the researchers had to take him to a prehistoric island where he could be amongst creatures his own size.

After battling a Tyrannosaurus Rex during a violent volcanic eruption, it appeared that Konga had suffered a grisly fate like that of his predecessor...but he survived this encounter and headed out into the world to try and find a place where he could live in peace.

"Konga grieved his fate...an outcast, denied the love of man, the only one of his kind, doomed to loneliness...and he chose to live in far and remote places where man would not be alarmed...and where man would not turn his increasingly powerful and hence painful weapons on Konga"

Constantly roaming the planet, Konga forever found himself embroiled in the affairs of man and although he was repeatedly attacked by fearful nations, the big ape was the world's salvation on many occasions.

"Inside his massive skull, the primitive brain knew what man did not know...he knew that man's world was threatened by outsiders...he knew there were aliens here...and he went to them in a straight sure line"
