Charlie the Chimp

Charlie the Chimp first appeared in Dandy #791 (D.C. Thomson), depicted by George Ramsbottom.

"Charlie the Chimp is a lovable imp

You'll met him each week in this paper

He plays pranks galore and you'll laugh till you're sore

at every crazy caper!"

In January 19 1957 readers were greeted by this introduction from the editor to Charlie's 2 page strip.

Discovered in Africa by Mr. Marsden, a handicapped animal trainer, Charlie the chimpanzee returned to England with his newfound owner. Charlie lived with Mr. Marsden and his son Jack at their boarding house, working as the porter, and getting into loads of trouble and shenanigans.
