Bobo, The Detective Chimp
Bobo the chimpanzee lived under the care of animal trainer Fred Thorpe. Recognizing that this chimp was especially bright, Fred educated Bobo in the ways of man and made every effort to explore his intelligence. After his caretaker was murdered, Bobo ended up in the custody of Sheriff Edward Case of Oscaloosa County. Putting his wits to the task of solving the crime, the Detective Chimp eventually led the Sheriff to Thorpe's killers. Bobo remained with Case, becoming his faithful sidekick; always uncovering crucial evidence, exposing the criminals and making Florida a safer place for monkeys and men. |
A chance encounter with Rex the Wonder Dog would change all that; the pair of special animals discovered the fabled Fountain of Youth and after partaking of it's reinvigorating waters, Bobo was once again a spry young chimp. |

He now possessed human level smarts and the ability to communicate with other animals. Bobo had the opportunity to put these abilities to good use after encountering an American expedition of scientists. Foiling a plot to murder the research team's leader, Bobo returned to America with the grateful scientist, eventually ending up in Fred Thorpes care. |
