March 7
Downtown Blues Club
Hamburg , Germany

Review from the floor by  Thomas Lorenzen
It was overwhelming and they did a great show. All of them, the audience too, where in a good mood and  these "old" guys really rocks. I can´t believe that my hero acting only 7  feet in front of me so that I could see every move in his face and his fingers, yes I indeed forgot the setlist. I think they started with "Day of the eagle". It´s very interesting and fascinating to see Robin playing the guitar, actually some famous german rockers e.g. Heinz Rudolf Kunze as you may know and few members of the Hamburg Blues Band, stood backstage with an open mouth.
Unfortunately Robin played so loud that I hardly couldn´t hear Davey and Dave, that´s really a pity. Well that´s the price yuo have to pay if you want to stay in front of the stage. Most of the people who stood there, were guitarists I think, because they always looked and took photos at the gear Robin is using. I could kick my ass that I leave the camera at home, thinking it is forbidden to take pictures but every bl.... fuc... idi... had a camera and took photos.
Arrggh! Steve, if you somehow get  photos from this tour would you please send me some copies? Well what more do I have to say? Maybe this was the last chance to see Robin live in Germany because he is now 60 years old and won´t come back again, and I am proud and happy that I saw him at last. If you gonna meet Robin, please tell him that there a lot of fans in Germany who want to see him again.  That´s for now Steve, best wishes from me to you and to your family, keep goin on the good work on your website, its always worth a look.

Robin 2
Bilston
The Robin 2 - Bilston, March 17th, 2005    From Karen Wilson
After waiting for 24 years to see Robin play live, and appropriately at the Robin 2, I wasn't disappointed! I never thought I'd get to see him and even now I still can't believe I have.  One week on, it's like a dream. The band kicked off with a rocking version of "Too Rolling Stoned" which made me leave my place and run down the front so I could soak up the vibes better.  The band totally gelled together from the first song, with Davey's voice soulfully rising above Robin's brilliant playing. Dave Bronze was an unostentatious but great presence on the stage and he kept it all together with his brilliant bass. It was great to hear "Rise Up Like the Sun" which is a personal favourite off "20th Century Blues", and it was on this that Pete Thompson made his presence felt with his relentless rhythm. "Daydream" was wonderful, with a real meditative feel - I could feel those around me swaying with the music, and it had the essential quality of other-worldliness that it's always had, whichever version I've heard of it - nice one Robin!
Other highlights (amongst highlights) were "Living Out Of Time", "Day of the Eagle", Bridge of Sighs" and "Another Time, Another Place".  The latter was excellent and despite the fact there wasn't a song from "Victims of the Fury", this filled the gap because to me, it's reminiscent of that time.  Ending with "A Little Bit of Sympathy", Robin surpassed himself and the crowd was extremely appreciative - I had been worried that the British crowds would be too reserved, but they were great - in a good live venue like the Robin 2, the crowd is able to express themselves and be heard, and as Alan Howard has already said in his review of the gig, they certainly let Robin know how much they love him! Stamping feet and shouts brought us the encore, and it was a fantastic bonus. All that remained was for me to slyly rip one of the posters off the wall on the way out.
Please come back soon Robin - you've been away from the UK live circuit for too long!

Wilbarston Hall,

From my guestbook by Jim P.
Hi Everyone, After a very long wait my patience has been rewarded! On  saturday 19/03/05 I saw Robin and his band play at a very intimate venue in England. The venue was a village hall and was packed to capacity. I managed to stand right next to Robins monitor and watched the whole set from this point!!  Being this close to watch the master was an experience I will never forget, since first hearing Twice Removed in '73 whwn I was 14, following Robin since then,  thru all the lineups and changes. Robin opened up with, "To Rollin' Stoned" into material from the new album, hilights from this were: "Sweet Angel","Another Time Another Place". This album is very strong and is immediate on the first listening. Other highpoints were: "Daydream" and of course "Bridge of Sighs" both extremely emotion for me. The last encore was: "A Secret Place". Thanks for letting me share this with you all, may Robin always be there to make his gift available to us all. I finish this message with this. After the first number Robin shouted " Are you alright!", somebdy a few rows back shouted, " WE ARE NOW!!!"

I was lucky enough to see Robin Trower in concert last Saturday, 26th March at The Cheese and Grain Frome, Somerset. It is ironic that after so many years of hoping to see this superb guitar virtuoso, when I do, he turns up only five miles from my home !
The venue is a fairly small but popular for live music which attracts a lot of big names. The bar also functions well, serving Real Ale and local cyder. There was a great air of anticipation among the audience, many who had admired Robin's music for so long and were desperate to see him perform
again in the UK.
Two local bands were in support. The first being The Chris Goulstone Band. They were an excellent start for the evening with a distinctive sound and a really outstanding drummer. Their rendition of "Manic Depression" nearly blew my head off. The next act were The Worried Men. Another first class band who carried out the unenviable task of being on stage immediately
before a living legend very well.
Robin Trower came on stage at 10 pm to a great ovation. Dave Bronze on bass, Davey Pattison on vocals and Pete Thompson on drums and some bloke on  guitar. The set was almost as published
beginning traditionally with "Too Rolling Stoned". It was clear from the start that the band  was on top form and any fear that we were going to see a bunch of mature musicians going through the motions was quickly dispelled.
"Sweet Angel" and "What's Your Name" from the Living out of Time album were next. Robin then really got into top gear with "Rise Up Like The Sun" Davey announced the next piece, "Daydream" by saying that "We now have an old one for you" A cheer went up from the crinklies in the audience (like me) and Davey and Robin exchanged ironic grins.
"Living Out Of Time" was next with Robin then doing the vocals on "Breathless". This gave Davey a well deserved break. Providing vocals in any band featuring such a talent as Robin's must be difficult and require a huge amount of ability and energy. Davey has it all.
At this stage, a bloke in the front made a request. Robin said that he didn't know that one but as an afterthought said that he used to ! He was clearly enjoying himself and had a great rapport with the audience.
"Day of the Eagle " and "Bridge of Sighs" followed with me thinking that I was standing 20 feet away from a genius ! Next was "Close Every Door"and "I Want You To Love Me" We then had an extra in the form of "Please Tell Me" which hadn't apparrently featured in the first three shows.
The last part featured "Another Time, Another Place" and "Little Bit Of Sympathy", and Robin said goodnight. We all clapped and cheered for what seemed ages before the band came back out and gave us "Come To Me". Robin then clearly signalled "last one" to Dave and Pete as he went into an incredible extended version of "Secret Place". The show finished at 11.45pm.
Brilliant!
Robin later met the fans and signed autographs. While waiting for this I had a chance to speak to a lot of other fans who were clearly very excited about the performance. For years when I have mentioned Robin Trower I recieved blank looks and here I was surrounded by dozens of like minded souls. One fan made the interesting comment that many performers from the seventies now
seemed very dated but that this is not the case with Robin's music. We agreed that it  is still fresh, original and exciting. I was fortunate enough to have a few words with the man himself and get an
album signed. He was friendly, cheerful and witty. A great chap. I just hope that it insn't too long before we see him again in the UK.
