Glenora is unusual in a number of ways, not the least being that there are two communities by that name in British Columbia. Our Glenora is four minutes southwest of Duncan in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. The word Glenora is of Scottish origin and means "golden valley".

Glenora Community Association manages the hall, which is a central mustering-point for the community. It is also the site of numerous social events throughout the year.

The hall is located at 3660 Glenora Road, Duncan, B.C., V9L 6S3, phone number (250) 746-6741.
About two-thirds of Glenora is devoted to vineyards and farming; the other third supports rural and residential lifestyles. There are about 250 homes and businesses in Glenora. A trip through the area may include views of everything from llamas, emus and ostriches to alpacas and wild peacocks. Palates may also be treated to wine-tasting tours of Glenora's three wineries and vineyards. Other places of interest include a tree nursery and fuscia-basket outlet, a blueberry farm, a bed-and-breakfast, an excellent restaurant, a general store and dairy farms. There is even a flying club and an ultralight business just outside of Glenora. As well, our community is home to many fine artists and artisans.
Salmon-fishing opportunities abound, ranging from the wily steelhead to runs of chinook, coho and chum. Outdoors enthusiasts can also visit and hike the Trans-Canada Trail. Known locally as the Holt Creek Trailhead, the path begins at the entrance to the Cowichan River Provincial Park. Or, visitors can follow the nearby Cowichan River Footpath, which is freely accessed from the Cowichan Fish and Game Association grounds.
