The links below are to the Sawyers Bar census records from 1870 to 1920. The 1990 census was either not done that year or has been lost. At any rate, it is not available. Joseph died in 1899 so he is listed only on the first two.
There is a mystery about some of the dates of birth, especially regarding Joseph. See if you can find the discrepancies! Also, we have tried hard to find out anything about either Joseph or Anne before they arrived in the U.S. So far no luck with that. We do not know the names of their parents or any of their siblings. So for us, their history really does not begin until they immigrated to the U.S. and ended up in Sawyers Bar, California, where the history that we know of begins.
