The function of The GeoGenealogy web site is to bring a broad range of geographic resources to the desk of the genealogist and surname researcher.

The website makes extensive use of Google Earth for many of it's applications and maps.

Google Earth is GeoGenealogy's application of choice because:

  • Its free
  • It's easy to use
  • It has an extensive global data base of places and addresses
  • The contemporary landscape can be viewed with Google's satellite imagery
  • It can import and display historic map images
  • Family  or Surname data can be easily imported into Google Earth.

The GeoGenealogy web site has created a surname mapping group. To visit follow the link and if you think it is worthwhile to join the group, click Ask to Join Group at the upper right side of the surname mapping page. You can also be added to a group by a friend who is already a member.

Surname Origins is a unique mapping service that will map your surname data for England and Wales, Scotland, Ireland and the United States.
