The History

The Geodetic Equivalent theory

Sepharial

It is believed that the theory of Geodetic Equivalents was first put forth by a man who called himself "Sepharial". His real name was Walter Richard Gorn Old and he lived from 1864 - 1929. He was considered a brilliant astrologer by C.E.O. Carter and some believe he had the gift of omniscience. Sepharial left us with 24 books on astrology with diverse topics such as "Astrology and Marriage, Directional Astrology, Kabalistic Astrology as well as Hindu Astrology.

His book "Geodetic Equivalents" explains how to calculate charts for any place on the Earth and how eclipses can trigger events at these locations. He writes, "This clearly shows that eclipses may have a significance of the first order when falling on the meridian Geodetic Equivalent of any place, and confirms the now well known fact that events tend to expression at the time when a major planet is in transit over the place or opposition of an eclipse."

The concept was also used prevalently by such early 20th Century mundane astrologers as Johndro, Van Nordstram and A.J. Pearce. It is in a state of revival, perhaps due to the many lectures presented by Chris McRae.

Geodetic Equivalents is simply a house cusp structure into which you can place your own chart, an Eclipse or Lunation chart, the chart of a Great Conjunction, or the transits for any time frame. It can be used to observe political or geophysical activity, watch the formation of weather patterns, and also as a personal relocation assessment.

A new Geodetic Book was published in 1988 by Chris McRae, expanding on the Geodetic principles and presenting the angles on a map of the world. This allows one to visually observe how dramatic events correlate with Eclipses and major transits as they cross these angles. Chris calls these contacts "Global Hot Spots".

The popularity of Geodetics continues to expand. Several computer programs now provide Geodetic Charts. Over the years Chris has lectured extensively on the subject and will continue to do so in the future.
