Salerno '43 with Anzio & Crete
Salerno '43 - The invasion of Salerno in September 1943 and Anzio in January 1944 were two very different operations. At Salerno the US and British troops ran into a stubborn enemy determine to throw them back into the sea. So, five months later at Anzio, they acted with caution, building up their force before moving inland - but the delay allowed the Germans to pocket them into the beachhead - one that proved difficult and costly to break out of. In this Panzer Campaign title you can try your hand in command of both of these critical Allied amphibious operations that lead up to Normandy. As a bonus you can also play the German Air Assault on Crete in 1941 to round out the action in the Mediterranean.

Salerno '43 - one mans opinion
this post from Grr (Gary) CobleighLike most, I was surprised to find that Salerno was the topic for the latest Panzer Campaign game. But after taking a look at it at Tiller Con, It was my first buy. The game is made up of three different and distinct battles. Salerno, Anzio and the German invasion of Crete. Salerno and Anzio have a Sicily 43 feel. With the exception that the Germans have a stronger OOB. The campaign scenarios appear small when compared to Kursk'43 and France '40. But they have a MG'44 playable scale. Crete is definitly similar to the Malta scenario in EA'42. We spent a good part of Friday trying this one out and it was bloody fight. The Greek and British troops have a good shot to win this one. And, in fact, they did in our game. Besides the campaign scenarios, there is a number of smaller scenarios that many of us concentrated on during Tiller Con, and I found them enjoyable. I can't exactly put my finger on it. But my impression was that Glenn and company have got this one right. I especially was impressed with the ability of anti tank weapons to have the expected effects on enemy armor.
For anyone wondering if Salerno'43 is worth it. I would strongly suggest that it is.
