Career History
Since 2005, I have been providing freelance writing and editing, services in the publishing and corporate communications fields, and maintain the Website for a non-profit organization.
From 2008 to 2010, I also worked as Technical Writer/Editor for BCIT, editing and rewriting the Institute policies for plain language, to improve clarity and encourage compliance.
Significant ongoing client work includes writing, copyediting, proofreading, and photography for Automotive Retailers Publishing, in Burnaby, BC.
My career began with retail work, where I learned to provide quality service to the public. Soon I was drafting for an engineering company, manually creating legal and technical drawings for housing developments.
Later, I turned to tree care and horticulture, and was employed in nurseries, city parks departments, and a university campus. Positions included Foreman of Tree Care for Red Deer, and Dutch Elm Disease Technician. (As DED Tech, I conducted a complete inventory of urban elms in an Alberta County, and all city-owned trees in the the City of Brooks, Alberta).
From 1999 until 2004, I was owner-operator of Garden Renaissance Horticulture Services, providing tree and garden care for clients in Vancouver's west side.
