Background

His recent experience includes stylistic and structural editing, and copy editing the Institute-wide policies for BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology). Other recent (and continuing) experience consists of writing and editing for the trade magazines Collision Quarterly and Tow Canada. There he has produced profiles and feature stories; interviewed and photographed story subjects; and copyedited, proofread, and rewrote copy.

Gary is a graduate of the Print Futures: Professional Writing diploma program at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC. He also holds a Business Administration diploma from Red Deer College, and several more certificates in horticulture and drafting.

Gary gained management experience as an entrepreneur in horticulture, where he developed strategic partnerships with related businesses for joint project work. He developed supervisory skills while a foreman in a city parks department, where he also coordinated and managed projects.

In addition, Gary has worked in drafting, picture framing, retail sales, and ranching. Overall, this diverse background provides him with substantial knowledge resources and interpersonal skills.
