Additional Reading
The following is a list of recommended reading culled from, comments submitted
on the NCRA listserve during Oct/Nov 2003.
The NCRA publishes a radio handbook, it is included free with membership.
They also maintain an articles list for material relevant to campus and
community radio.

Barrie and Victoria maintain a reading list on their Community Media website.
Barrie writes: "There is list of books that we like on our website,
although they tend to the spirit and philosophy of radio rather than nuts
and bolts."

I personally recommend anything published by CiTR. Beg their station manager
for a copy of what they have available.

As well there are various handbooks from radio projects in developing
nations which are worth looking at. One, from the Open Society Institute
is a superb technical handbook and is available on CD. CD based Technical
Handbook put out by the Open Society Institue in South Africa. They have
a wealth of material on-line at
http://www.osf.org.za/Media/media_detail.asp?ID=61
The Teen Reporter Handbook was produced as part of the excellent "Radio
Diaries" radio series in the US. It is available in PDF format
http://www.radiodiaries.org/makeyourown.html
Other books about radio are listed on the Radio College site (soon to
absorbed into airmedia.org) at
http://www.radiocollege.org/rc/historybooks.html
And of course people should always check out transom - they specialize
in helping new and young producers.

Anyone interested in youth radio should check out the work being done
on both coasts of the US. A good starting point is Blunt Radio's site
