Southside Bars
(scroll down)

Southside bars perform two tasks. One, they change the instant center of the vehicle. The instant center of the vehicle is determined where the upper and lower control arm angles intersect. A stock G-body intersects somewhere in front of the radiator. This causes the car to have a smooth, level take off on acceleration. By angling the lower control arms upwards on a steeper angle. The car tends to squat in the rear transfering more weight on to the back wheels for better traction. Two, they are a square tube instead of a stamped out U. The stock design tends to spread, shorten, and bend under acceleration. Thus changing the instant center and taking some of the squat and hard launch away from the vehicle. Two cures for this are buying aftermarket boxed bars or boxing the stock bars. Turning the U into a full square. The Southside bars have greased axles instead of rubber bushings which stops control arm bind. So even if you box your stock arms you will still get bushing bind.

Southside Machine lift bars

You can see the steep angle the lower black bars are on. This is because Moser builds in 1" of lift to the rear end and the Southside bars add another 2". The bars are now attached to the rear end 3" lower than they were stock. Thus bringing the instant center back a considerable distance.  Price $234.90
