Before removing the dashboard from the car the steering wheel column has to be removed first. See the "Steering Column" section.

dash in place

The dash in a Lemans is slightly different than in other G-bodies but it is my belief that all the mounts are in the same location. There are two ways of removing the dash. One I do not recommend for anyone that hasn't done this before but is welcome to try. It will save you a lot of time. The other is more time consuming but certainly easier.
The first way is to disconnect all the wire connections and speedo cable. There are 4 screws across the top and 3 bolts along the bottom. Two of the screws on the top are hidden under the speaker cover. Pry it off and you will see them. The entire unit will come out in one piece. If you forget to disconnect anything you will be standing there holding the dash. The wire connections you need to locate are- glove compartment light, 2 map lights, radio connection, fan control connection, center instrument printed circuit plug, main instrument printed curcuit connection, wipers, and headlights. The buzzer panel for door and seatbelts, is also bolted to the dash.

The second way is to remove each component in the dash separately. Then remove the dash. It is lighter and you will understand the way a dash is assembled much better. In the picture above you can see a bar hanging down in the center of the firewall. This is the center mount for the dash. It is located behind the radio. The other two lower mounting bolts screw into tabs welded to each side post. If you look closely you will see the one on the passenger side. The other two screws at the top are located in the defroster vents.
