Crazy Cake

Cake:   
1 1/2 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp Baking Soda
3 Tbsp Cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp Vanilla
6 Tbsp Oil
1 Tbsp Vinegar
1 cup cold water

Topping:
1 heaped cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Milk
1 Tbsp butter
Dash of Salt
1 tsp Vanilla
pinch of Cream of tartar*
finely chopped walnuts


Sift Together: flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa and salt.

Make 3 depressions and in one put vanilla, in the second put oil, in the third put vinegar. Pour over all 1 cup cold water. Mix with a fork, not more than 5 minutes.
Bake 30 minutes in a 350° F oven.

While cake is cooling, make the icing. Combine Topping Ingredients (except for the nuts) in small sauce pan.

Boil for about 5 minutes, pour over warm cake & sprinkle with chopped walnuts. Let cake get cold before cutting.
