core values
My core values are THC (Truth, Honour and Compassion), and I believe we need more THC in Ottawa.
In order to deal with the complex issues faced by modern societies it is imperative that we receive accurate and correct information from our politicians and media. I have told my children that it is wrong to lie to others but even more wrong to lie to oneself. I promise that no matter what the issue is I will speak the truth.
Our society is the envy of the world. As Canadians we are respected around the world. This respect by others didn’t happen without cause. Canadians are known as peacekeepers and it is a role that I support. But honour is also about how we treat each other, the elderly, the sick, the poor, new Canadians, and our First Nations’ peoples.
I believe that compassion is something that can’t be measured on an economic bottom line. Even though it can’t be measured it is one of the most important components of a healthy society.
How we treat each other in our personal lives makes a huge difference in our own quality of life. And, if we as a society only concentrate on economic performance, return on investment, or life cycle costs we are missing the point completely. I believe that we all benefit when we help others less fortunate than ourselves.
