Template Commentary

This page demonstrates our standard 3-Column template using flexible CSS styling and XHTML. Links are shown to illustrate our web design practice, but most are not currently enabled. Different branding logos for screen, print, and handheld environments appear or disappear as appropriate to the display.

Classes ...

CSS classes for modifying the layout (1 column, 2 column or 3 column) is extremely useful for Content Management Systems that do not offer access to the HTML header. Without using separate templates, the column layouts are simply manipulated within the body.

Note: the technique of extending the coloured column on the right to the footer is accomplished completely without the use of any images. CSS coding within our framework accomplishes this task.

The navigation tabs on this web site are not inititated. They are provided to illustrate links to some standard pages that we design.

Cross-browser Compatible

Web design: Our pages are built with semantic, flexible, and accessible (X)HTML multi-column layouts including headers and footers, a content area with one to three columns, and "flexible grid" sub-sections. Displays are cross-browser compatible, functional, and modular. Our building-block (framework) construction even considers print and handheld compositions. The CSS code in this system permits column separators and background colours to be generated without images while still extending continuously to the footer.

Concepts ...

Our goal is to help you to develop your professional web presence with creative style and accurate presentation of your image and product.

Clear communication, visual appeal, and easy navigation: these values are built into each of web design.

We incorporate necessary search engine optimization (SEO) techniques into every page. We can assist with your tag and keyword selection and content development to improve your readability with the major search engines.

Robust Web Design

The XHTML and CSS construction of the individual components translates to robust code that facilitates almost complete independence from the structure of the actual content. An excellent presentation of the web site is uniform in all popular browsers, such as Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, Safari, and others.

Flexible Web Design

We nest the main elements of the site page in separate DIV containers in order to ensure correct positioning on the screen, irrespective of the eventual use of any particular container. Thus, tables are kept to a minimum. This implementation equates to free choice in column order, flexibility in layout and printing (columns sidebars, and navigation can easily be removed from the layout for printing), and immediate rendering as soon as the first container is loaded (meaning a shorter wait period compared to tables).

Barrier-free Web Design

Barrier-free web design is improved by several tactics, including "Skip Link" navigation which assist screen readers to manoeuvre through the page.

An example of this construction can be seen at Spirit of the Game. For more information or pricing, please send your questions to blaine|websolutions.
