Other Stinson's Here's some photos' we've found or taken of other Canadian Stinson's. There are many Stinson Aircraft in Canada - not all of them in showroom condition. I've noticed that you can usually find at least one Stinson hidden away at most aerodromes in Canada, however, there are areas where the model is found in great abundance. For example, when I lived in Bagotville, Quebec there were three float-equipped models parked on the river within walking distance from our home. When we came to Comox, British Columbia there were five Stinson's on the field - four float-equipped!
![]() I went out to the aerodrome a couple of months ago and spotted this L5 being assembled in one of the hangers. Tom, the owner/mechanic told me he had already arranged the sale of the bird to some elderly gentleman from the US.
![]() I received this photo from Donald Franklin of Mobile, Alabama. He advised me that he and his brother have spent a number of years on the restoration of this 165 hp 108-1. Looking fwd to receiving new photos as the project progresses.
![]() CF-ABC is an O-470 powered 108-3 owned by Dick Machin - this picture was taken at Powell Lake, BC.
![]() This is Rob Olson's all metal 108-1 equipped with an original 150 hp Franklin.
This 1948 108-3 Station Wagon (CF-LWI) is owned by Simon Rose of St. Albert, Alberta.
LWI went through a "ground
up" restoration in 2000 and recently received the "Outstanding
Stinson" award at Oshkosh 2003.
Simon keeps his plane at home near
St. Albert and flies on a regular basis.
This is Doug Reeves fantastic 47 108-1 with 150 Franklin- His rebuild was completed Nov 2002. This aircraft won best restored and most authentic restoration at the South African EAA Air-Week in 2003.
We'll insert other photos as they become available. Check back soon.
