Sofia has some new tricks!

Climbing!!!

Look at the expression on her face!! It's tough work, but she doesn't give up!!

Momma came into the living room and found Sofia sitting on the sofa looking at one of her picture books. Sofia must have climbed up by herself without assistance. Last time I visited, we watched Sofia climb up -- she used one of her larger toys to push her foot against, and it took her a couple of tries, but she made it. Likewise, she gets down again by sliding off and almost falling, but it will take practice!!

Sofia Gets Into Mischief!!!

Sofia loves her cheerios! They are her 'candy'!

Momma caught Sofia playing with the water in the toilet!! We discussed this, and I mentioned that I was very proud of Sofia's growing curiosity. Momma, on the other hand was concerned about Sofia drowning. I said that I'd never heard of a child drowning in a toilet, but a search on the internet soon taught me that more children drown in toilets every year than drown in swimming pools!! We discussed toilet latches and other things to make them kidproof but in the meantime Momma will teach Sofia 'NOT' -- and leaving the lid down (which Sofia cannot lift (yet) seems to be doing the trick!

The Potty!!!

Momma called Sofia to the bathroom. There she removed Sofia's diaper and sat her on the potty! I went to observe and was quite surprised because I wasn't aware that Momma had begun training her. Sofia peed and was quite proud of herself! Then, to my amazement, Momma handed her a piece of toilet paper. Sofia took it and blew her nose!! One step at a time I guess, but still I was very impressed. I think we'll have to get Sofia out of diapers and into the pullups that are becoming popular. Sofia still doesn't have any way of indicating when she has to use the potty, but I have no doubt that Momma will find a way!!!

Brushing Teeth!

Momma has an interesting way of brushing Sofia's teeth. She lays Sofia on the floor, then kneels over Sofia with one leg on either side, rather like a wrestler pinning another, and then brushes Sofia's teeth. Sofia seems to be OK with this and laughs while Momma brushes!
