Almost two years old - A report card!

A Kiss for Momma

There is nothing finer than one of Sofia's truly loving kisses! This photo was taken in October 2003.

Sofia is now almost two years old. As mentioned earlier, she is off of the feeding tube and is fed from a spoon just like all the little kids her age. She still cannot drink from a cup, but is learning, and as of this report is really getting much better at it. She still gets enough fluids in her food. Sofia is not as difficult to feed as she was before, but does knows what she likes and doesn't -- which really frustrates Momma who I have to admire for not losing her cool! Sofia's TEETH are coming in and show when she smiles.

Sofia's eye has recovered from the previous surgery. Unfortunately, a follow up check reveals that although there was some correction, more needs to be done. This will wait until a later date -- at least until after she returns from Europe.

A Big Smile

I'd walk a million miles for one of her smiles! I love this photo -- Sofia is really turning into a cuter cutie! Everyone she smiles at melts!

SHE TALKS! ONLY ONE WORD SO FAR....

Sofia said her first word just before Christmas 2003. So far that's it!! "Tata" for father. We still can't get her to say Mama, and she new gets a little frustrated when we ask her to say it. We'll leave her speech alone, it will come only when she is ready.

A NEW TALENT

Some time ago, while visiting, Sofia, her Poppa, and I were listening to some music. Sofia was in her Poppa's lap and we were listening to the CD on his computer. There was an on-screen display which changed shapes and colors in time to the music. Sofia began tapping her hand on the table, trying to keep time to the music as well! This reaction to music is something I've been watching, waiting, and hoping for. Her ability to appreciate music is a wonderful sign as far as I'm concerned and I intend to encourage it as much as possible.
