Let's see -- one...two...three!
Sofia is now wearing glasses! They make her look so wise. The big trick is getting her to keep them on!

Smile?? Can't you see I'm busy eating? You can see the milk in the NG tube. We want to get rid of that darned tube! So does Sofia, I think, because she's pulled them out a few times already!

Sofia has started on strained baby food -- but only a little bit. We have just been told that she can have as much as she will take! That's great, and you should see her -- just like a little piglet! She makes it clear by her actions that she wants 'More, Fast!'

My 'Wise Little Owl'! With her Teddy. It's cute to watch her when she's lying on her back playing with it. You can see that her hand eye coordination is still pretty awkward, but she's getting there. She works at it very determinedly!

More food! The other day Momma was feeding her and gave her a tiny glass with some water. Sofia did pretty well with it, and if we can get to the point where she will take enough water and milk from one of those baby sipping cups we'll be able to get rid of the darned NG tube!

Ups and Downs Christmas Party. Ups and Downs is the name of the Calgary organization for families whose children have Down Syndrome (DS).
This was the first real chance for Momma to take Sofia to something other than the doctor or a hospital! It was great to see all the other little kids who have DS running around having a good time, and for us it was like watching a preview of Sofia next year! Poor Poppa didn't get back to Calgary until the next day! He would have loved it! I sure did. Sofia had a great time -- she was looking around at all the lights and seemed to be really enjoying herself. I danced with her until she fell asleep in my arms -- then it was time to go home.

Today -- January 16th! Sofia is pushing with her feet as if to want to stand. While she is still far to young for that, if I hold her hands, she gives a good push and with a little boost from me tries. I can see the determination in her eyes! This is a good sign of increasing muscle tone which is very important for kids with Down Syndrome. I'm just so proud of this little one!
