The Canadian Down Syndrome Society (CDSS) is a national organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for all individuals who have Down syndrome through advocacy, education and providing information.

The Society accomplishes this mission by providing information and assistance to all those with an interest in Down syndrome, by advocating on behalf of individuals with Down syndrome in the areas of education, employment and healthcare and by providing networking opportunities for parents and professionals in relevant fields.

These two links will take you to two pieces of prose which speak volumes. The first is 'Welcome to Holland' by Emily Perl Kingsley. It is very well known and gives a wonderful insight into the bewilderment at first experienced by the parents of a new DS child. The second piece, 'Celebrating Holland -- I'm Home' by Cathy Anthony, is a marvellous followup to the first. They serve well to help new parents of DS children to understand what has happened, and what is to come. Enjoy!
