Today is a big day for Sofia. Momma is taking her and Baba to Victoria, B.C. for a week's visit with a good friend. I am driving them to the airport and come early to visit with Sofia before she leaves. This is necessary because I suffer terribly from ASA, Adult Separation Anxiety, something I never noticed until Sofia came into my life!

Sofia has just woken up! When I arrived she was sleeping but soon after she woke up. I went into the bedroom to see her and she was standing up holding on to the side of the crib -- and with one of her big smiles. She does not take long to come to life. Momma takes her into the living room where Sofia starts every day with special lessons designed to stimulate her mind and body. This is part of her normal routine and she waits patiently for Momma to bring the teaching materials.

A varied curriculum!
Momma uses all kinds of materials. Some include touch and feel, for example dipping hands into warm and cold water, or rubbing her arms and legs with various materials, some warm, some cold. Other's involve taste and smell -- such as waving a lemon dampened cloth for Sofia to smell, showing her a picture of a lemon, then a real lemon, and then giving her a taste of lemon flavored water. Sofia seems to enjoy the lesson -- to me it seems like a fun way to wake up.

Sofia went with Momma and Bubba to Banff for the Easter Weekend. Sofia went swimming, but was a bit frightened of the shower -- something new to her. Once in the pool though, she had a good time.

Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow!

Leaving for Victoria
We're at the airport. This is the tough part for me, but Sofia makes it easy. She is smiling and gives me a kiss or two. Then I put her in the stroller and with big smiles she waves Bye-Bye! Momma will now check in and preboard. I'll go home and pine for a week!
