Esther's Side

Maid of Honor -- Donna Giesbrecht
Esther & Donna met at Centre Street Church when Esther joined the 25-35 yr old singles group.  Donna immediately took Esther under her wing and introduced her all around, so that Esther felt a part of the group from the very beginning.  Both directly and indirectly, she was responsible for Esther & Alvin meeting.  Indirectly, in that she introduced Esther to Todd who later met Alvin and got the ball rolling for Esther & Alvin's first date.  Directly, in that she played host to the Survivor/Apprentice party that became Esther & Alvin's first date.  So Donna is a very important person in this wedding day even happening!

Bridesmaid -- Jennifer Stone
Jennifer & Esther have known each other since 1988 when they toured together with The Continentals (a gospel music group).  They became very close in those three months and nourished their friendship afterward by phone, travel, and later that most wonderful of inventions, e-mail.  Jennifer now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where she works in the legal profession.

Flowergirls -- Taeva Kublik & Emily Lomenda
Taeva & Emily are the respective daughters of Esther's cousins Carmen (Lomenda) Kublik and Jeremy Lomenda.  Both girls are two-and-a-half years old and are themselves cousins and best friends.  By the time of Esther & Alvin's wedding, they will already be seasoned flowergirls, with Taeva & Emily being in Carmen's sister's wedding in August, and Emily being in Jeremy's wife's sister's wedding this summer also.

Alvin's Side

Best Man -- Rick Jensen
Rick & Alvin met through a mutual friend (Rod Charlton) when Alvin & Rod were going to SAIT in 1991.  Rick was doing maintenance work at Edgemont Club.  They were getting ready for a racquetball tournament and Rick asked Rod if he knew anyone who needed extra cash and could help him with the tournament preparations.  So Rod put Alvin in contact with Rick.  After the tournament, Alvin & Rick kept in touch over the next few months and developed a friendship, playing squash, golf, Saturday morning hockey periodically and sharing a few pints together. 

Groomsman -- John Johnston
Alvin originally met John through the mixed slo-pitch team at Centre Street Church.  When Alvin began going to a Centre Street Church LIFE group, he met John again.  John & Alvin both love hockey, so Alvin invited John to join his Saturday morning hockey team.  The hockey team usually goes out for breakfast after their practices, so John & Alvin continued to develop their friendship.  Now Alvin & John are co-leaders of a student ministries group (Grade 7 boys) for the last 2 years.

Ringbearer -- Ben Prefontaine
Ben is Alvin's cousin Carmyn & Chris Prefontaine's son.  He is almost 4 years old.  Ben's going to be a veteran ring bearer by the time of Esther & Alvin's wedding because he is the ring bearer at his Uncle Daniel's wedding three weeks earlier!
