Firefighter's are your Friends !

Scroll down to see the special activities for you on this page.
Ask your Mom or Dad to help you with some of them.

When we need help there is a special phone number to call - 911 .
The operator will ask you what kind of help you need, Fire, Police, or Ambulance, and you can tell them all about the problem. Then you need to do exactly what they tell you. They may say to leave the house, or go to a neighbours, or call your Mum or Dad.
(Put your mouse over the 911 Engine to hear a surprise!)

Here are some pictures for you to colour. Read all about the pictures before you colour them. Click on the images to view and print them. You may need some help from your Mom or Dad for this. (Pictures will be opened in Adobe PDF format - FREE Reader available HERE)

Firefighters are Your Friends

Have you ever seen a real-life Firefighter with all his equipment on?  They look like they are going to the moon or something !

Sometimes it may be a bit scary to see a Firefighter like this.  If you ever have a fire at your house, and you see a Firefighter like this, you don't have to be scared - they are there to help you.  Don't run away or hide from them.

Ask your Parents or Teacher if you can go to the Fire Hall to see a Firefighter all dressed up. Maybe you can try on some of the gear, or your Mom or Dad could get dressed up like a Firefighter.

Do you know 2 ways to get out of your bedroom ? Have you practiced leaving by BOTH ways ?

It is very important to have a FIRE SAFETY PLAN and to PRACTISE IT, just like you do at school.

If you ever hear the Smoke Alarm beeping you should leave your bedroom by the safest way, and go to the MEETING PLACE outside your house.

Ask your Parents to help you make a Fire Safety Plan for your family - then PRACTISE IT !

Fire Safety Plan

Stop-Drop-Roll

OH NO! MY CLOTHES ARE ON FIRE!

WHAT DO I DO?

» STOP ! Don't run -   that will make it worse.

» DROP TO THE GROUND even if there is mud or gravel. Cover your face with your hands.

» ROLL - ROLL - ROLL until the fire is out.

You can practise this anytime, but its better to practise on nice soft grass.  Ask your Mom or Dad to watch you.
