History

1956-11-22: Launched.

1957-06: Delivered to Cunard Steamship Co., Liverpool, England.

1957-06-05: Maiden voyage, from Greenock to Montreal.

1957-06-26: Entered regular service on the Liverpool - Montreal route. In winter, served on the Liverpool - New York route.

1961: Moved to the Liverpool/Cobh-New York route year-round to replace Britannic.

1965: Rebuilt for cruising.

1965-02-10: Entered service as a cruise ship.

1966-11-24: Made the final Cunard Liverpool-New York sailing, ending a 126 year-old service.

1967-10-20: Made the final Cunard Southampton-Canada sailing.

1967-11-30: Made the final Cunard Liverpool-Halifax-New York sailing.

1968-02-02: Sold to Sitmar Line, Monrovia, Liberia for Southampton-Australia emigrant service; renamed Fairwind and laid up in Southampton.

1970-01-14: Arrived at the Arsenale Triestino San Marco shipyard in Trieste, Italy for rebuild. This rebuild altered the forward superstructure significantly.

1972-01: Left the shipyard and sailed her maiden cruise for Sitmar.

1988: Renamed Sitmar Fairwind.

1988-09-01: Acquired by P&O Lines, Monrovia, Liberia when P&O Princess purchased Sitmar.

1988-09-09: Renamed Dawn Princess.

1993: Sold to Happy Days Shipping [V-Ships], Nassau, Bahamas; renamed Albatros.

1993-04-27: Chartered to Phoenix Reisen, initially for 5 years.

1993-08-18: First cruise to Nordkapp.

1995-05-22: During a Red Sea cruise, an engine room fire broke out. The passengers went ashore in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Sailed (towed?) to Livorno for temporary repairs.

1995-07-26: Arrived at Lloyd Werft, Bremerhaven, Germany for repairs.

1995-07-30: Returned to service.

1997-05-09: On a cruise around England, ran aground on Bartholomew's Ledge leaving St. Mary's Roads in the Scilly islands. The ship returned safely to St. Mary's Roads.

1997-06-26: Arrived at A & P shipyard in Southampton for repair.

1997-07: Returned to service.

2003-12: After discovery of a major mechanical problem during maintenance at Genoa, Italy, Albatros was sold to the breakers.

2003-12: Renamed Genoa for her final voyage.

2004-01-10: Beached at Alang, India after arriving on Jan. 6.
