Haunted Hotel

Dec 2009

INVESTIGATORS: Matt Spearin, Laura Craig, Cathy Knudsen, Morgan Knudsen

NOTES: As one of the longest standing hotels in Alberta, this beautiful building held a few extra guests. Given a room for the night by the city, the investigators couldn't resist a little investigating into this magnificent landmark.

EVENTS REPORTED:

We entered this investigation with mixed information and stories regarding the events happening there but we were soon to find out the more-than-helpful staff was willing to divulge a bit more. We had heard everything from strange working animals being heard in hallways to wandering spirit housekeeping and more. With all of this unconfirmed, we decided to take things as they came and were not disappointed.

On many investigations, we are called in because the entity that has manifested from negative thought within the person or environment is destructive, so this investigation was a treat. At 10:30pm, we began on the floor second from the top as immediately Matt felt it might be a good place to begin based on the tone of the energy that seemed to be present. The electromagnetic fields and temperature were reading normal and no EMF readings were present anywhere but near the electrical rooms. Cameras in hand, we hadn't gotten far when Matt caught a glimpse of a 'man' which he identified as male with a white tam hat, wool overcoat, light brown pants and carrying a closed umbrella. He was in his 60's with white scruff around his chin, dressed as if he were dressed in the 1930's. Almost immediately, the EMF meter spiked in mid-space where Matt had indicated the man was standing. His name was Mike and he kindly insisted on referring to Matt as "Mattie", which caused our investigator a few laughs. This was the beginning of our fascinating journey through these halls that time forgot.

When we reached the second floor, Matt encountered the image of a woman; A brief glimpse of a white dress disappearing into a dead-end corridor. Following, the team's EMF meter immediately flared upon reaching the site. The pocket of energy seemed to be hanging in mid-space once again, disappearing one moment and re-appearing the next. Then, as we noticed it beginning to move down the hallway and between the team members, Laura's photos began to capture a small orb which was strange as it was the only one we had caught in the hundreds of photos taken within the spotless hotel. As she continued to click away, the orb appeared again and again as if travelling down the hallway in front of us. We followed using Laura's photos as a guide, feeling privileged to be in the company of such a gentle anomaly. Then, after roughly 10 meters, it vanished.

The rest of the night was quiet, but we all felt privileged to have encountered such friendly apparitions.

PICTURES TO COME.
