Do to the nature of internet mail (ie: mail servers being down, people giving us wrong addresses, and in general being unable to send mail to players), it is the responsiblity of players to:
EMG will send out mail messages:
But if our mail can't be delivered or is bounced back, then it becomes the players problem and their responsiblity. It is not EMG's responsibility to make sure the a player's mail is delivered to them, as all the above information is avaiable at the web site and players can request their reports to be mailed to them by sending us a message (see below).
An account id is a unique id assigned to each player the first time they sign up for a game at EMG. Each turn, your game report shows your account id. So you will not find out what your account id is till you get your first game report. This account id must be included with your commands each turn to identify who the commands are from, if it is not included with the commands, your commands will be ignored.
Your account id is included with each and every report you receive.
If you never got a confirmation request sent to you from EMG, that probably means that the email address you provided us was invalid for some reason. Provided you answered the questions correctly, you will be on one of the Waiting Lists and you can check to see if the id you did provide us was correct. If it is not correct please mail us the correct address and also send us a confirmation that you still want to play.
If you have not confirmed you still want to play within a few weeks of being mailed a message asking for your confirmation, you will be removed from the Waiting List. If you are still wanting to play you must signup all over again.
Provided you answered the questions correctly, you will be placed on the Waiting List. But you will never receive a message from EMG asking you to confirm, so you will never be considered confirmed, which means you will not be placed in a game. A month after we received your initial request we will remove you for the Waiting List since you haven't confirmed. So it is up to you to make sure we have a valid email address for you.
A new game starts once enough players have confirmed they want to play to fill up a game. See the Waiting Lists for how many confirmed players there are currently and for the required number of players for each game.
Once a game has started the Game Schedule page will state what day the turns are due. Your report also says what day the turns are due. All turns are due by 11:00pm pacific time.
Most games run once a week. AOD games run twice a week. Head to head games run on adhoc. Private games can run as often as required. Training games run as soon as a turn is send in.
To hand in a turn e-mail your commands to EMG (the address will be on each report you
receive).
Turns can be handed in multiple times, with each new set of commands, overwriting the previous
set of commands.
The subject line of your message must say EMGTURN. The first line must say EMGSTART,
then the second line must be your Account ID, the third line must be the Game ID,
then place commands one per line, and finally end your commands with EMGEND.
Spacing and indentation doesn't matter. For example:
Subject: EMGTURN EMGSTART ABC1234 GD001 MO 1 45 DW 3 EMGEND
A message will be sent back saying weither your commands were accepted or if the account or game id where invalid. If you don't get a message back you should assume that your commands where never received.
You can also hand in a turn using the web form . This link is also on the main page. This creates a message which gets sent to the mailbot. You will receive a confirmation back if you entered your account id and game id correctly on the form.
All games are run by an automatic scheduler, so there will be no delays if someone hasn't handed in a turn. If someone does not hand in a turn, the computer will play the turn for you.
If you miss 3 turns in a row and we don't hear from you, we will remove you from the game and not allow you to play in any further games. So if you can't continue playing send me a message so we can remove you from the game and replace you with a new player; this will also insure that you can play in future games if you are interested.
If you miss the first turn without sending us a note explaining why you are going to miss the first turn, we will immediately remove you from the game and replace you with another player.
Private games are those were a player recuits all the members for the game themselves and then sends me the complete list of players and how often they want the turns to run and if there are any changes to victory conditions.
Training games are a game with just one player in it. They will run whenever you send in a turn. They are an excellent way for you to learn to the rules to a game and to become familiar with sending in turns.

The (E) designation after a player's name indicates an experienced player who has completed at least one game and finished in the rankings. These players are given preference whenever they ask to play a game - they are immediately put on the top of the confirmed list. They earn this benefit because they have shown they will complete a game once they start and not drop out later. Players with (E) can lose that designation if they start dropping out of playable positions. These players are also allowed to join more than one game at a time. Non (E) players can pick up those dropped positions.
The (G), (S) and (B) means the player is a member of the GD/GD2 Gold , Silver or Bronze Club. If there are to letters, one is for GD and the other for GD2. These letters are based on the GD/GD2 Ringer Board lists. Players need to send a note to EMG when they move up the Ringer Board, as the change will not happen else wise.
The date after a player's name indicates when they made their last donation to EMG. See here for a complete list of all donators.
Once you have completed 6 turns in a game, you can join in as many games as you like. If you start dropping positions that are doing bad though, you will be restricted from starting up new games.
See section on Rules of Conduct
A blind game is a game were no one knows who is playing which position, nor are you allowed to tell anyone who you are. No communication is allowed expect through the use of the mailbot EMGMSG command.
A gunboat game is one were no communication of any kind is allowed between players.
Normally games run once a week. A game with an ADHOC schedule will only run when everyone in the game has sent in a turn. A MAX7 game will run once everyone has handed in a turn or after 7 days from the last time a turn ran.
