Forestry Decrees


1167 Vladislav II banned clearing and settlement advancement in Litomys^l.

1203 Pr^emysl I probihited clearing of Krus^nohorsky’ forest near the monastery in Osek.

1231 Pr^emysl I banned the clearing of the frontier forests on the Austrian border.

1355 Jan exempts Z^atec and Louny from paying customs for wood rafting on the Ohr^e.

1366 Jan orders the construction of gates on the Vltava between C^eske’ Bude^jovice so rafts can pass weirs.

1379 The forest code for the Cheb region allowed village inhabitants to fell trees for construction only with the permission of foresters, condition of which permission was timely delivery of forest duty probably in the form of oat fodder for cattle and horses. In addition, the oak and limetrees which provided food for game and for forest bees could not be cut.

1398 Va’clav IV granted cheb the right to produce wood in the king’s forests, but he stated “the roads must remain protected and in the case of an invasion they must have the capacity of being blocked by tree trunks” (29). Peeling of bark for tan production was also banned.
