Child Labor and Advertising

In the 2004 May-June issue of Yoga Journal, Lululemon's print advertisement featured a fake tabloid style visual that claimed to expose Lululemon use of child labour in their sweatshop-style factories. In reality, they do not practice child labour, but were trying to show the evils of child labour through irony and humour. Lululemon hoped that the ad would get the public to learn the real facts about child labour and make knowledgeable choices about the clothing they buy.

Lululemon prides itself on using regular people (although they are athletes) to model their clothes instead of skinny, anorexic supermodels.
