Colour Consultations

The colour consultation service which Distinctive Designs offers it’s customers will be an in-depth process. Janine Leduc will spend time with the customer in their home or business getting to know the likes and dislikes of the customer, how the space will be utilized and by whom, the lifestyles of those who will be utilizing the space, the natural lighting, what items of furniture or personal artefacts will be remaining in the space, and any other information that would help to determine how the room should be decorated.

Decorative Painting

Utilizing glazes, paint, plaster, and various other products to produce a unique and distinctive finish to enhance your home or business.

Faux Finishes

Faux means ‘fake’. Faux finishing is the centuries-old techique of painting surfaces to look like something they are not. A faux finish can be used when it is not financially or architecturally feasible to use the actual product (leather, marble, brick, copper, etc.). Typically, faux finishes consists of multiple layers of paint, translucent glaze, and occasionally, plaster and or wax to produce the depth required for a realistic finish.

Textured Finishes

Utilizing specialty plasters and various tools to apply and manipulate the products to create a textured finish for your home or business.

Stencilling

Utilizing precision cut patterns on mylar sheets along with specialty stencilling paints and brushes to create a pattern, scene, mural, random placement, and raised patterns. Stencil patterns can range from the simple to a complex pattern utilizing multiple overlays.

Murals / Trompe L'oeil

Murals are a fabulous way to bring life to your home or business. Imagine yourself in your soaker tub with a beach scene wrapped around you, or expand on the theme in your child’s room. Collect pictures or share your ideas and see them created especially for you.

The phrase “Trompe l’Oeil” is French for “deceiving the eye.” Trompe l’Oeil murals are designed to look incredibly realistic. Have a window painted in your windowless stairway that opens to the outdoors, or a niche with wine bottles in your dining room or wine cellar. The options are endless.

Technique Consultations

A technique consultation involves discussing various techniques available that will further enhance the look of a room, piece of furniture or decorative item. You may wish to have a technique applied to your walls or ceilings that will create a unique and distinct look, add character, blend and create uniformity, and hide imperfections. Your decorating style might be further enhanced if your walls were frescoed or venetian plastered or you had an old world finish applied. You may have a tired piece of furniture that you still love but want a new look for it. Keep that mirror frame or light fixture that doesn’t suit your décor and have it refinished into a one-of-a-kind original piece of art.
